Akhator who was prosecuted by the Benin Office of the EFCC, was said to have obtained the sum of N150,000 from one Jakub Sani Mohammed by fraudulent tricks.

Upon his arraignment on a one count charge, Akhator pleaded guilty to the offence.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Larry Aso Peters, urged the court to convict and sentence the defendant accordingly.

In his response, defence counsel, Padro Egharevba pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercies as the defendant was a first time offender who has become remorseful since he was arrested and has also promised to desist from such despicable act.

Justice Ajoku after listening to both counsels sentenced the defendant to one month imprisonment.

He also vowed to be loyal to her for as long as he lives and she responded too.

Police responded just before 1 a.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in a home in the 7500-block of Farmingdale Drive. Officers discovered three people dead inside.

They were identified to the DuPage County Coroner’s Office as 7-year-old Olivia Esho and 33-year-old Bourk Esho, who both lived in Darien, and 42-year-old Olasunkanmi Esho, who lived in Chicago, officials said Monday.

The coroner’s office said they all died of gunshot wounds. After the shooting, Darien police said there was no threat to the community.

Police are conducting death investigations. The coroner’s office and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office are assisting.

An unidentified woman has committed suicide by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge.We gathered that the incident took place late on Sunday, as the woman was said to have parked her Ford jeep with the registration number APP 190 CE on the bridge and jumped into the river.

A top police source told our correspondent that the Marine Police were currently searching for the body of the deceased inside the water.

The raging war between two cult’s groups, Vikings Confraternity and Black Axxe – has claimed the lives of three persons in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. One of the deceased identified as Mr. Ubong Etuk was killed in a gruesome manner after being shot in the head.

It was gathered that the two groups have been after one another for the past three months before the weekend clash that started in a motel at Afaha Uqua Eket.

One was killed at Liverpool Road, another in Uqua Village, while the third person was killed at a sit-out at Atai Ndon Village, all in Eket.

It was scooped that the clash leading to the death of three cult members started on Sunday, when a member of Vikings Confraternity unleashed terror on a member of the Black Axxe with machete cuts.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Odiko MacDon, who confirmed the incident, urged members of the public to go about their normal businesses without fear as the Police are on top of the situation.
